Road to Flavorchem
I am a 16-year-old incoming junior at Christ the King Jesuit College Prep. I recently completed my second school year working at Flavorchem as part of my high school’s Corporate Work Study Program. Each week, I receive various assignments from Flavorchem’s Marketing Team that range from industry research, graphic design, building a LinkedIn profile, and establishing best work practices. I most enjoyed the trend research projects and making the company Christmas cards during my freshman year.
At Flavorchem, I can pay more attention to what’s going into the products we consume more than what we think we are consuming. Three skills I learned that I plan to continue using are photo tagging, researching products & trends, and using Canva (a design tool).
During the School Year
A typical weekday for me during the school year consists of many things. I have yearbook, advisory, and student council meetings on Monday. In-person schooling takes place on Tuesday, Corporate Work Study and driver education on Wednesday, online classes on Thursday, and in-person school again on Friday. I can’t wait to be fully back in the building because my week will be a lot easier.
I would like to go to college for Art and Education because art is my passion, but I also really love teaching math. My top college choices are New York University, University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois, or University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC).
Summer Plans
This summer, I plan on taking a trip to St. Louis to spend some time with my cousins. I also plan on applying for jobs so that I can get more art supplies. Some of my future goals include painting in Times Square, buying a house for my brother and I, and continuing to help others.
