Road to Orchidia Fragrances
After graduation, I was working as a QA/QC Chemist for a flavorings company but wanted a role with more growth and creative potential. I found a job posting for a fragrance sample technician with Orchidia and immediately applied. I’ve worked almost every job at Orchidia – from sample tech to QC tech to perfumer – and I’m very grateful for having had the opportunity to do so. It has given me a better understanding of everyone’s role within the group and how we function as a whole.
Interest in Fragrance
Fragrance is deeply personal; evocative of emotions and memory, but also speaking to a person’s personality and mood. Consider fine fragrance: It’s a layer closer to your skin than clothing itself. I think there’s something truly fascinating in what a person chooses to wear as a fragrance or what they use to fragrance their home. My favorite thing about working at Orchidia is that we work on a vast range of project types, which allows us to familiarize ourselves with formulation for different product categories and avoids monotony in day-to-day workload.
Outside of Work
I graduated with my chemistry degree and a minor in French language but had never managed to visit a French-speaking country. I got to brush up on my French this fall, when my partner and I took a trip to Paris. I already cannot wait to go back.
